Exclusive: West Ham interested in signing £50m Chelsea attacker who left Michail Antonio stunned

TBR Football understands Chelsea are still looking to move Raheem Sterling this summer.

The Blues hierarchy have made it clear to Sterling in recent months that he is not in their long-term plans, despite him being signed by the current regime.

However, Sterling – one of the best-paid players in the first-team – is in no hurry to leave.

Sterling has already turned down approaches from the Saudi Pro-League and Turkey in recent months.

West Ham interested in Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling

A move to Major League Soccer is something TBR understands he may consider but at 29, he feels there is not a major need to quit European football yet.

Chelsea realise that if Sterling was to move within England, they would have to massively subsidise his contract – which still has three-years left to run, but TBR understands that is something they are willing to do.

Sterling’s name has come up in conversation with Crystal Palace during the Michael Olise conversations, whilst West Ham are believed to keeping tabs on the situation.

Michail Antonio a big fan of Raheem Sterling

When West Ham defeated Chelsea 3-1 at the start of last season, Hammers forward Michail Antonio admitted Sterling didn’t deserve to be on the losing side.

Speaking on the Footballer’s Football podcast, via BBC Sport, Antonio heaped praise on the former Manchester City winger.

“He was unreal. After the game, we were calling him ‘Sonic’ because I’ve not seen a man move that quickly with a football. It was madness. He was driving everywhere.

“It’s the best game I’ve ever seen him play, he was on fire. He didn’t deserve to be on the losing team at all.”

If Sterling can rediscover that form at the London Stadium, should he sign for Julen Lopetegui’s side, West Ham will be getting one of the best wide players in the Premier League.
