Ivan Toney has backed £175k-a-week Man City player to become a great manager

Ivan Toney has claimed that one particular Manchester City player has what it takes to become a top manager in the future.

Having racked up 409 senior club appearances throughout his career, the striker has featured for 15 managers in total.

With 85 Premier League games under his belt and three for England, the 28-year-old has played alongside and against a wide range of top-level figures.

The Brentford star is now gearing up with the rest of the England squad to take part in the upcoming European Championship in Germany.

Now though, ahead of the tournament, Toney has taken the time to share some of his thoughts on who he’ll be sharing the England dressing room with over the next few weeks, with one specific City star getting a notable mention.

Ivan Toney says Kyle Walker will become a top manager

In a recent short shared on the talkSPORT YouTube channel, Toney was asked a series of questions about his England teammates.

When asked to name which of the current squad he thinks would become the best manager, Toney picked Kyle Walker.

Walker’s Premier League experience could help him become a manager

At the age of 34, the right-back has racked up 395 Premier League appearances throughout his career, 301 of which have been with City.

Having also won six Premier League titles during his time at the Etihad Stadium, this highlights not only the vast top-flight experience Walker has but also the knowledge he has when it comes to winning consistently.

In fact, Ashley Young, who also knows what it takes to have longevity as a Premier League player, said back in May that Walker is one of the best full-backs in top-flight history.

This may also help the defender in terms of being able to get respect from players he may end up coaching if he decides to go down that route once he brings an end to his impressive playing career.

Moving forward, if the £180k-a-week City captain does end up coaching in the future, we feel that the fact he’s captained the Citizens to a historic fourth Premier League title in a row and knows what it’s like to be coached by Pep Guardiola, this could put him in a good position to one day become a top manager.
