Djibril Cisse now shares who he thinks is the better finisher - Erling Haaland or Sergio Aguero

Djibril Cisse has revealed whether Sergio Aguero was a better finisher than Erling Haaland or vice versa.

As a former striker, who played for top clubs like Liverpool, Marseille and Lazio, Cisse’s opinion on the matter is certainly valid.

The former French international also played alongside legendary marksmen like Thierry Henry and David Trezeguet.

A case can be made that Haaland is already Manchester City’s greatest-ever striker after Aguero. However, City also had top-class goalscorers such as Carlos Tevez and Edin Dzeko in their ranks.

Djibril Cisse gives one-word response to settle whether Erling Haaland or Sergio Aguero is the better finisher

At both City strikers’ peaks, strictly as a goalscorer, the Norwegian international trumps the retired striker — with his goal tally in the Premier League (36) in his first season bettering the club legend’s best figures across all competitions in the 2016/2017 campaign (33).

But as an all-round player, the Argentine was superior to Manchester City’s number nine — as a dribbler, in terms of his link-up and hold-up play and his technical security.

However, when quizzed by talkSPORT on TikTok about whether Aguero or Haaland is the superior finisher, Cisse replied: “Haaland.”

Difficult to look past Sergio Aguero

While there is no real wrong answer and as a result, Djibril Cisse is entitled to side with Haaland, Aguero had more variety to his finishes during his time at Manchester City.

A majority of the 23-year-old’s goals emerge from inside the box.

In Aguero’s case, he scored every type of goal — tap-ins, long-range strikers, dribbling past one or two defenders before slotting it past the goalkeeper, near-post finishes, headers, the list goes on and on.

But there is also a much larger sample size of finishes to choose from when looking back at the former Atletico Madrid striker’s goal catalogue at City.

For the time being, however, it is difficult not to side with Aguero as the answer.
