What Vincent Kompany thinks of Levi Colwill amid Bayern Munich interest - journalist

Chelsea defender Levi Colwill is attracting interest from Bayern Munich.

It has been reported that Bayern Munich are weighing up making a move for Levi Colwill this summer.

There could be an opportunity for at least one central defender at Chelsea to leave in the transfer window.

The Blues have just signed Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham.

While Adarabioyo will fill the spot that Thiago Silva has left behind after his exit, Enzo Maresca still possesses six centre-halves. The Italian will not be able to keep all of them happy next season.

Bayern Munich in contact to sign Levi Colwill

Right now, Colwill looks to be high on Bayern’s list as they look to strengthen their defence this summer.

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, the German club are in contact with the player and his camp.

Vincent Kompany is now in charge of Bayern, replacing former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, and the Belgian has a very high opinion of Colwill, Plettenberg has also claimed.

The England international is not the only Chelsea player Bayern seem to be interested in, though.

Who else could Bayern Munich try to sign from Chelsea this summer?

Bayern also appear to have another Chelsea defender on their radar.

It has been claimed that the Bundesliga outfit may be willing to pay Ian Maatsen’s release clause.

Maatsen is a player who Bayern got to see up close last season following the left-back’s loan spell at their rivals Borussia Dortmund.

Having that release clause and not being part of Chelsea’s first-team plans, it will be much easier to sign Maatsen than Colwill.

Ultimately, while you would expect the Dutchman to depart Stamford Bridge this summer, it would be a bit of a surprise if Colwill also left.

The England international was an important player for Chelsea last season after making 32 appearances as both a left-back and centre-back. Maresca will surely have use for him in the new campaign.
