Journalist says Saudi club now want 'clinical' target 'pursued by Wolves', he'll decide after Euros

Wolves now face increased competition to sign one summer transfer target, as a Saudi Arabian club is eyeing the player.

Gary O’Neil has already completed his first signing of the summer transfer window, as Wolves welcomed Rodrigo Gomes to the club.

The Old Gold beat Atletico Madrid to the signing of the 20-year-old, with plenty of work for O’Neil and Matt Hobbs to do in the hunt for additional reinforcements.

One player who has been linked with a move to Molineux for some time is Che Adams although, the Midlands club could now face an even greater challenge in their bid to sign him.

Wolves face competition from Saudi Arabia for transfer target Che Adams

After a failed attempt to sign Adams on deadline day last summer, Wolves are continuing their pursuit of the Southampton striker.

Things are even more complicated this time, as the Scotsman faces interest from several clubs, including the Saints who wish to extend his contract.

Now, even more interest has been reported, as journalist Ben Jacobs relayed that Saudi Arabian side Al-Shabab are ‘hoping to persuade’ him to join the club.

Jacobs notes that while Adams is ‘pursued by Wolves and Nottingham Forest’, Al-Shabab have him as one of their targets, alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Rafa Silva.

There is yet another stumbling block surrounding the striker’s future, as the forward is not expected to make a decision on his next destination until after the Euros.

Given that links to Adams go back to last August, it’s remarkable that Wolves are yet to strike a deal for the Saints forward, who has a critical decision to make this summer.

Saudi interest shouldn’t concern Wolves

Given that Wolves are believed to have proposed a contract offer to Adams, it may feel as though the club have done what they can at present on their side.

News surrounding the Scotsman’s possible new contract at Southampton didn’t surface until the Saints released their retained list, with Saudi interest and Forset’s admiration of the player additional hurdles.

While Saudi clubs have a significant financial advantage in what they can offer in an attempt to lure players, Wolves must remain confident in their pursuit of the striker, who was once lauded as ‘clinical’ for his impact in the final third.

O’Neil could offer the forward the chance to be the club’s first-choice number nine, as well as having proof of improving the form of his players in front of goal, most prominently the transformation of Matheus Cunha.

For all of Wolves’ difficulties off the pitch, the Old Gold do present an exciting project thanks to O’Neil, with the choice now down to Adams to make.
