Wolves learn Tommy Conway transfer stance amid update on Bristol City future

Earlier in the summer, Wolves were said to have ‘genuine interest’ in Tommy Conway, who could leave Bristol City this summer.

Nothing further had been covered on the Midlands club’s admiration of the striker although now, reports suggest that O’Neil could have a shot at signing the 21-year-old.

Bristol Live understands that the Robins are ‘open’ to listening to offers for the forward, due to his reluctance to sign a new deal at Ashton Gate.

It’s believed that the Scotsman ‘will have to be sold’ this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer next year, with three clubs mentioned as suitors.

Wolves, Celtic and Rangers are said to have maintained a ‘constant check’ on the player’s development, with Leicester City also mentioned as admirers of the £8m striker.

For now, the youngster’s focus will be on the upcoming Euros, where he will represent Scotland at the tournament.

Conway could be a smart signing for Wolves

Considering O’Neil’s yearning for a forward this summer, Conway could be a cost-effective target for the Old Gold to target.

The 21-year-old found the net 10 times in the Championship last season, showcasing his ability in the final third so early into his career.

Added to his goals in the second tier, the striker, who was once lauded as being ‘hungry for success’ by Nigel Pearson, showed his potency against Premier League opposition, scoring twice against West Ham in the FA Cup.

Given how attentive O’Neil is to getting the best out of his forwards, helping Matheus Cunha come out of his shell at Molineux, Conway could consider Wolves as the perfect next step on his journey.

Now that Bristol City’s stance on the player has been made clear, the Premier League side should certainly test the waters with an offer to ward off interest from Celtic and Rangers.
