A bonkers theory about the late Princess Diana and Donald Trump’s youngest son Barron is once again doing the rounds.

Regardless of who you follow or how well you think you’ve curated your timeline, you can never know for sure exactly what you’re going to see when you log on to Twitter (X). From innocuous memes to insatiable Swifties, the microblogging site plays host to some of the unique groups of people on the internet. And every so often while scrolling down your feed, you’ll see a post that reminds you not to believe everything you read online – such as this frenzied conspiracy theory about a supposed connection between the late Princess Diana and Donald Trump‘s son, Barron.

Bizarre Princess Diana & Barron Trump conspiracy theory resurfaces

In what will surely be one of the hottest takes you encounter in 2024, some of Twitter’s most inquisitive minds are claiming that Barron’s mother is not Melania Trump – as he is actually the son of Diana, the former Princess of Wales.

This surreal suggestion has been quietly bubbling within certain corners of social media for a few years now, and seemingly stems from the fact that Barron, 18, bears a slight physical resemblance to Diana when the pair are pictured alongside one another.

This theory has been peddled by various accounts, often in posts making little to no grammatical sense, with, you’ll be surprised to hear, no accompanying evidence.

Proprietors of this wild theory have even come up with what they believe to be a solution to the obvious issue with this theory – the fact that Diana has been dead for 27 years, suggesting that she is actually still alive, and now works undercover for the US Armed Forces:

Qanon has spread Diana theories for years

Needless to say, there is absolutely no feasible evidence, anywhere, that would suggest that the Barron-Diana theory could be based on anything that resembles anything close to the truth.

For one crucial point, Diana passed away in 1997 – nine years before Barron, who has only recently graduated from high school, was born.

Moreover, if it were true, this would make Barron the heir to the throne – something that Trump probably would have pointed out by now…

Fact-checking articles debunking similar theories about Diana being alive have circulated for at least two years now, and such theories are typically associated with QAnon.

For the uninitiated, QAnon refers to an online movement of far-right conspiracy theorists who, among other things, believe that there is a circle of corrupt elites who are conspiring against Trump.

Several members of QAnon were linked to the infamous January 6 insurrection, which saw the US Capitol Building stormed by a mob of protestors.
