That’s right, you read that title correctly. In the eyes of TikTok, Affleck has spent the last three years living a lie – and should instead be with his long-term friend and frequent collaborator, Matt Damon.

The flippant fantasizing about the celebrity pair has been going on for some months now, but has ramped up in recent weeks amid concerns about the state of Affleck and J Lo’s marriage.

In a recent viral post on Twitter (X) about the pair reportedly selling their house, one user racked up over 58,000 likes, when they jokingly posted a photo of Damon, smiling, captioned “man who is going to be okay” – suggesting that things are starting to look up for him, now that Affleck may be single again.

Responding to the picture, one fan of the pair chimed in, writing: “Ben Affleck just needs to accept that Matt Damon is his 1 true love in life”.

TikTok users joke it ‘could all mean nothing’

In one of the countless examples of stans putting together reels of footage supposedly showcasing Affleck and Damon’s connection, this fancam rather creatively used the lyrics to Taylor Swift‘s love story to show that Affleck’s ‘true love’ has been in front of him all along:

And each joke made about the pair has been accompanied by the line “which could mean nothing” – a sarcastic, wink-wink style quip used to suggest that anything the pair do together, like go for coffee, isn’t actually as innocent and wholesome as it seems.

“The best thing (that) happened to me in this pride month is when the algorithm decided to introduce me to the Matt Damon and Ben Affleck lore which could mean nothing”, wrote one giddy fan, alongside a picture of a gossipy headline linking the pair as an item:

Again came the “which could mean nothing” line, this time attached to an adorable edit of the pair, proceeded by a sweet clip of Damon speaking about how important Affleck is to him:
