Peter Crouch suggests £50m Man City player is actually better than Marcus Rashford

Peter Crouch has suggested that one Manchester City player is superior to Marcus Rashford.

Rashford, on his day, is one of the best players in the Premier League.

Since breaking through into Manchester United’s first-team, the 26-year-old has proven that he is indeed a special talent.

However, the Europa League winner’s career has been defined by inconsistency.

The same cannot be said about Manchester City’s players, with names like John Stones, Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri to name a few.

Peter Crouch drops hint about whether John Stones or Marcus Rashford is better

With City being quite a stable club, especially during Pep Guardiola’s time in charge, it seems like the environment for players to succeed is ideal.

Much like Sir Alex Ferguson, Guardiola also drives the standards at the Etihad Stadium; a role that cannot be understated.

Manchester United, since Sir Ferguson’s departure, however, have been a failing institution on a majority of levels.

While ranking England’s players, from the past and the present for TNT Sports on TikTok, Peter Crouch named Stones in the ‘B’ tier and placed Rashford in the ‘C’ tier.

The popular pundit seemingly implied that the £50 million man is a superior player to the United poster-boy.

John Stones is certainly superior to Marcus Rashford

Peter Crouch has made the right choice with his suggestion as unlike Rashford, Stones has been operating on a world-class standard for years.

Last season, the Manchester City centre-back’s season was blighted by injuries but before that campaign, he was arguably his club’s most pivotal player when they won the treble.

Since the 2020/2021 season, the former Everton defender, who seemed like he was no longer in Guardiola’s plans has turned his career around, unlike Rashford.

In the 2023/2024 campaign, the two-time FA Cup winner registered seven goals and two assists in the Premier League.

Internationally as well, it was only in the Qatar World Cup where the blistering forward shone, scoring three goals.

The six-time Premier League winner, on the other hand, has been one of the Three Lions’ most key players since the 2018 World Cup, showing he can play amongst the best of the best at international level.

As a result, Peter Crouch would be entitled to state that Stones has outperformed Rashford for both club and country.
