'Strange': Journalist shares what he's been told about Daniel Levy and Ivan Toney's agent

Ivan Toney is a player who is making all sorts of headlines in this summer transfer window.

The Brentford striker is, once again, a wanted man heading into the summer, and Tottenham are amongst the teams most interested in the England international.

Indeed, recent reports suggest that Spurs are preparing a bid to sign Toney this summer, while speaking on KS1TV, Steve Kay has shared some interesting insight into this potential deal.

Kay says that Toney has changed his representation to an agency that is very close to Tottenham – CAA Base, while he noted that he’s heard some stories about Jonathan Barnett – one of CAA Base’s most important figures and Spurs meeting recently, noting that Daniel Levy is good friends with Barnett.

Daniel Levy is good friends with Ivan Toney’s agent

Kay shared what he knows about Tottenham and Ivan Toney’s agent.

“Yeah at this moment in time I’ve been told that Tottenham are readying a bid for him,” Kay said.

“He changed his agency to CAA Base before his ban which is basically Tottenham’s agency. There is a good sort of clue there that Tottenham would be a good destination for him.

“They are really interested in him, they like him a lot. You hear some strange stories about where they have met agents and where they’ve met Jonathan Barnett. Daniel and Jonathan Barnett are very good friends.”

Toney to Tottenham makes sense

Toney to Spurs is a move that makes more and more sense the more you think about it.

The striker clearly wants to go and play for a bigger club, Spurs need a new striker, and the connection between Levy and CAA Base make this a very viable deal.

There aren’t many better strikers than Toney on the market this summer and as the attacker heads into the final year of his deal, he may be available for a bargain fee.

Tottenham are certainly a team to keep an eye on in this transfer race.
