Phil Foden says Man City star who left in 2020 was better than Cristiano Ronaldo

Phil Foden has suggested that one former Manchester City player was better than Cristiano Ronaldo.

Having worked his way through the youth ranks at the Manchester club and making 270 senior appearances for the Blues, the 24-year-old has shared the pitch and dressing room with numerous top-level stars.

The midfielder has also played against a lot of top-name players across his career, including Ronaldo on just one occasion during City’s 2-0 win over Manchester United back in the 2021/22 season.

Now though, the City star has claimed that one of his former teammates at the Etihad Stadium was better than the Portuguese icon.

Phil Foden ranks former Man City star above Cristiano Ronaldo

In a recent video shared on the Euro 2024 TikTok channel, Foden was tasked with blind ranking 10 past and present players who have featured memorably in previous European Championships.

After putting Ronaldo in second place, the Englishman then chose to put David Silva in first position.

During his 10 years at the Etihad Stadium, where he now has a statue of himself outside, Silva scored 77 goals, delivered 130 assists and won numerous domestic trophies in 436 appearances.

Out of those games, 28 of them were with Foden, who said back in February that it was a dream to play alongside the Spaniard.

Foden is a big fan of Silva

Even though Ronaldo is widely considered to be one of the best footballers of all time having scored 759 goals, supplied 238 assists and won many trophies in 1013 club games, the fact that Foden put Silva above him in this particular ranking further highlights how much he admires his former City teammate.

Regardless of statistics, we feel that a lot of City supporters would also appreciate Silva more than Ronaldo due to his previous connections with United in addition to the Spaniard’s impressive decade as a City player.
