N.J. man charged with shooting at car, striking the person inside

A Toms River man was charged with aggravated assault after allegedly firing shots into a car and wounding a man, officials announced Thursday.

Anthony Brown, 20, was charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses, authorities said.

On Wednesday at around 11:30 p.m., Toms River Police were called to a home on Adams Avenue for a report of a gunshot victim, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

Brown was accused of taking a gun from the home, and shooting twice at a car, striking a 24-year-old occupant in the leg. Brown fled the scene, but was later arrested at his home, officials said.

The victim was taken to the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune where he was treated for his injuries and later released, according to authorities.

Brown was transported to the Ocean County Jail where he is awaiting a detention hearing, the prosecutor’s office said. Attorney information was not immediately available
