Man stabbed his father multiple times at N.J. home, police say

A man was arrested Wednesday after he was accused of stabbing his father at a home in Middlesex County, police said.

The father was stabbed multiple times at a Buttonwood Drive home in East Brunswick and then fled to a house in Sayreville before being taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to a statement from the East Brunswick Police Department.

Police in Sayreville contacted the East Brunswick Police Department at 2:08 p.m. about the incident. Officers there identified Heng Shao, 40, of East Brunswick, as a suspect, authorities said.

Officers said Shao, the son of the man who was stabbed, fled the home in a silver Honda Accord, investigators said.

Shao was later located at the Menlo Park Mall in Edison where he was arrested and charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, terroristic threats and weapons-related offenses, the department said. He was then lodged in the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center.

The stabbing is still under investigation, police said.
