Detention of suspects

The altercation took place around 3:00 PM on French Boulevard. The incident was initially reported by a woman who told police she witnessed a group of men shouting and fighting among themselves before hearing a gunshot.

Upon arrival, police detained two men, ages 32 and 43, both Russian citizens. A special operation was launched in Odesa to locate a third participant, a 29-year-old local man, who was later apprehended with a shotgun.

The investigation revealed that the suspects had been at a restaurant on French Boulevard, where an argument escalated into a physical altercation on the restaurant's summer patio. During the conflict, the men brandished knives, and the 29-year-old Odesa resident fired a shotgun into the air before fleeing the scene.

At the site, authorities recovered two knives and a bag containing three hand grenades, two of which were identified as combat grenades.

The detained Russians had prior run-ins with law enforcement and had been criminally charged in the past. One was wanted for extortion and kidnapping. Authorities are now considering charges of hooliganism and illegal handling of weapons against the suspects.
