Sheffield Wednesday 'consider' summer move for PL attacker who Danny Rohl already likes - journalist

Sheffield Wednesday have a Premier League attacker in their sights, it has been reported.

The summer transfer window is now officially open, with Sheffield Wednesday having until August 30th to complete their summer transfer plans.

It looks as though Danny Rohl already has three new players close to signing after it was revealed that Sheffield Wednesday have agreed a fee for Yan Valery.

Free agents Ben Hamer and Max Lowe are also tipped to move to Hillsborough this summer, making for a positive start to the post-season for Sheffield Wednesday.

There’s also plenty of other names on the Owls’ radar with recent reports revealing that Sheffield Wednesday remain in contact with Ovie Ejaria, who’s been a free agent since his Reading release in December 2023.

Rohl is also keen to see loan trio James Beadle, Ian Poveda, and Ike Ugbo all return to the club this summer; Poveda is set to become a free agent when his Leeds United contract expires this summer.

And now, another name who Rohl wanted in January but didn’t sign in the end has been added back to the Owls’ transfer wishlist.

Sheffield Wednesday eyeing Myles Peart-Harris transfer swoop

Sheffield Wednesday were linked with Brentford attacker Myles Peart-Harris during the January transfer window.

The 21-year-old former Chelsea youngster eventually signed for Portsmouth, going on to score twice in 12 League One outings as Pompey won the title.

Journalist Joe Crann has revealed on X that Sheffield Wednesday have ‘reignited their interest’ in the attacking midfielder.

Crann adds that Rohl and Wednesday ‘consider him an attacking possibility for 2024/25’, with his Brentford future somewhat up in the air.

He’s under contract at Brentford until 2025 but the Bees and manager Thomas Frank hold the option of a one-year extension.

It’s unclear whether or not Sheffield Wednesday would prefer a loan or permanent deal for the Englishman.

One reason why Sheffield Wednesday should buy Myles Peart-Harris

Peart-Harris looks an exciting talent, and after several loan spells away from Brentford, with his future at the Premier League club looking to be in doubt, he may fancy a permanent move away from the club.

At 21, he’ll surely be eager to really kick-start his career. Being so young as well, whoever signs him could go on to boast a very valuable asset in a few year’s time.

That’s something Sheffield Wednesday really don’t have many of, and haven’t had for some time now.

The Owls need to get in the habit of buying players young, giving them first-team exposure and watching their transfer value increase.

Peart-Harris, despite spending some time out of the side, showed his qualities with Portsmouth last season, scoring twice as he played predominantly on the left-side of midfield.

He showed his attacking prowess with 1.5 shots-per-game and averaging 12.8 passes in the opposition half, despite playing mostly as a substitute (Sofascore).

He also showed his defensive work-rate with 1.1 tackles-per-game and 3.4 balls recovered-per-game, so Rohl knows Peart-Harris can compliment the intense, hard-working style of play at Sheffield Wednesday.

It may not come cheap, but Peart-Harris could be a very shrewd investment for Sheffield Wednesday.
