‘Really likely’: Journalist hints there are two midfielders Arsenal could sign after missing out on Sesko

Arsenal have missed out on the signing of Benjamin Sesko.

The Slovenian striker has decided to stay at RB Leipzig for at least another year, and that means that Arsenal may have to reconfigure their transfer plans.

Speaking on Inside Arsenal, Charles Watts has been discussing what Arsenal may do after missing out on Sesko, and he has a very exciting theory.

Watts reckons that Arsenal could re-allocate some of the funds they had put aside for the Sesko deal to sign a new midfielder, claiming that a move for either Joao Neves or Bruno Guimaraes could be likely after the deal to sign Sesko went haywire.

What Arsenal could do after missing out on Benjamin Sesko

Watts spoke about who Arsenal could sign after missing out on Sesko.

“With Sesko opting to stay do you think Arsenal could add those striker funds to the midfield allocation making a move for Joao Neves or Bruno Guimaraes much more likely?” Watts was asked.

“I think that is a really likely scenario here. You put that money aside for Sesko and the fact that money isn’t being spent now and if Arsenal decide that a new number nine isn’t essential that money could move into another pot,” Watts said.

Arsenal could strengthen

This could actually be the best thing for Arsenal.

Yes, there’s been a lot of chat about Arsenal needing a striker, but they still scored 91 league goals last season – that’s a serious return.

If Arsenal can just balance their squad a bit more and add a bit more steel for those games where they aren’t playing brilliantly, they will be able to compete for major honours.

A new midfielder may take Arsenal to the next level in a way a new striker wouldn’t.

Keep an eye on Neves and Guimaraes as players Arsenal could now go for.
