'They've had a result': ESPN pundit says Newcastle are better off after not signing Chelsea defender Tosin

An ESPN pundit has claimed that Newcastle United have come off better as a result of missing out to Chelsea on the signing of Tosin Adarabioyo.

Tosin Adarabioyo, 26, was available on a free transfer this summer because his contract at Fulham is expiring.

HITC reported in May that Newcastle United were confident of winning the race to sign English defender Tosin.

However, Chelsea confirmed the signing of Tosin a week ago, with his deal officially beginning on 1 July.

The towering 6ft 5in centre-back has made the short trip across West London to join the Blues on a free transfer.

ESPN pundit explains why Newcastle have had a result

ESPN pundit Don Hutchison claims that Newcastle had now made a better signing than Chelsea’s Tosin.

Newcastle confirmed on Thursday that defender Lloyd Kelly, 25, has signed at St James’ Park on a free transfer,

Hutchison told ESPN: “They’ve signed Lloyd Kelly today, who I think is a very good player. Tosin [to] Chelsea. Kelly is a better player than him. I think they’ve had a result there.”

Tosin Adarabioyo a better fit for Chelsea

The Chelsea Chronicle is still content that the club managed to pick up Tosin for free this summer, especially if it leads to spending big in other areas.

Tosin adds some much-needed height and Premier League experience to Chelsea’s defensive options in the squad.

The former Manchester City academy graduate has plenty of familiar faces in the dressing room at Stamford Bridge to help him settle in.

We’re confident this is a low-risk signing with the potential of big reward.
