Jhon Duran’s potential departure from Aston Villa hits a stumbling block after alarming issue emerges

Jhon Duran’s big-money move to Chelsea has hit a potential stumbling block after an alarming issue has emerged from Aston Villa.

The summer transfer window is underway with plenty of deals set to happen over the coming weeks.

There is no doubt that Unai Emery and Monchi will be looking to do everything in their power to upgrade Villa’s first team ahead of their upcoming Champions League campaign.

Douglas Luiz is already rumoured to leave Villa Park with Weston McKennie and Samuel Iling-Junior coming the other way.

Another potential departure is striker Jhon Duran who has been linked heavily with Chelsea over the past weeks.

However, this transfer has now hit a potential stumbling block after an issue has emerged about his time at Villa Park.

After the 3-3 draw against Liverpool in the final home game of the 2023/24 campaign, few would have wanted to see the back of Duran.

The Colombian striker was the hero as he netted twice late on to all but assure Villa reached the Champions League.

However, with Chelsea now interested in purchasing the striker, more information has been revealed on his time at Villa Park thus far.

According to The Guardian, Duran’s attitude at the club has been questioned and now Chelsea are doing background checks on the attacker.

Another stumbling block is his wage demands. Chelsea have been trying to reduce their wage bill which could cause issues.

However, despite this, the article still believes that there is a good chance that the deal will go through with Villa willing to offload him in order to raise funds.

If it is true that Duran has a poor attitude, Villa must seek to sell him in this window regardless of whether the Chelsea deal goes through or not.

Players with poor attitudes can lead to the downfall of a side if things start going poorly and the club cannot risk that.

For the rumoured price of £40 million, Villa are getting one of the best deals of the window. Duran will not push Ollie Watkins out of the team anytime soon so to cash in now for such a big price is a major plus.

Monchi and Emery could also turn to potential bargains such as Tammy Abraham, who is believed to be available for around £20 million.
