'He's really, really fast': Mohamed Salah says Liverpool have a £140k-a-week player who's absolutely rapid

Mohamed Salah has delivered his verdict on one of his Liverpool teammates’ speed and movement.

The Egyptian is one of the best players in the world. He has been incredible for the Reds over the years, and despite not having the best campaign in 2023/24, he ended the season with 39 direct goal contributions in 44 games.

That is an outrageous return for a wide player, and the fact Salah came under criticism last season while producing these numbers shows just how high a standard he has set.

Salah isn’t the only top-quality player at Liverpool – there are a few others who are a really, really good at what they do.

The Egyptian has now heaped praise on one of them.

Mohamed Salah shares what Darwin Nunez always keeps doing in Liverpool’s attack

Darwin Nunez has been at Liverpool for almost two years now, and he has constantly divided opinion.

The Uruguayan’s ability is unquestionable. He possesses all the qualities you would want from a centre-forward, which is probably what convinced Liverpool to sign him in a club-record deal.

However, Nunez has come under a lot of criticism for missing opportunities over the last two seasons. He has missed a combined 47 big chances – only Erling Haaland has missed more.

That is not a great record to have, but Nunez’s teammates know just how good he really is.

Virgil van Dijk claimed that Nunez is extremely difficult to play against because he’s very direct and doesn’t stop running.

Now, Salah has delivered his verdict having played next to him for two years.

The Egyptian claimed that Nunez is always looking at him during Liverpool’s attacks because he knows he can find him. Once the ball is released, the striker uses his blistering pace to get on the end of it.

Salah told the Premier League’s official website: “He loves to run in the space. He’s really, really fast.

“He keeps looking at me because he knows I can give him the ball easily in the space that he can finish the situation.”

What Luis Suarez once said about Nunez

Nunez idolises Luis Suarez, even though they are very different types of strikers.

The £140k-a-week (Spotrac) Liverpool forward is fast, physical and a real handful to deal with, while Suarez was much smaller but significantly more deadly in front of goal.

The former Reds star, however, is a huge fan of Nunez having played with him in the Uruguay national team. He rates him very highly, so much so that he branded him as ‘one of the best strikers in the world‘.

Back in March 2024, after Nunez scored against Nottingham Forest, Suarez said: “Yes I saw [Darwin’s goal]. I am so happy for Liverpool and I am so happy for Darwin.

“He is one of the best strikers in the world today.”

Some Liverpool fans have been unhappy with Nunez in front of goal, but Suarez’s comments should convince them to be a bit more patient with their number nine.
