Gary Neville left in disbelief by what Kieran Trippier has just told him about Tottenham’s Heung-min Son

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has been left stunned after what Kieran Trippier has just revealed about Heung-min Son.

Tottenham Hotspur‘s summer window is now underway with the addition of Timo Werner on a season-long loan to bolster their front line.

But Ange Postecoglou will be looking for more to follow over the coming weeks with Spurs still needing to find their replacement for Harry Kane.

Richarlison has endured his ups and downs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with the Brazilian showing glimpses between his frustrating injury issues.

The Lilywhites have relied heavily on goals from Heung-min Son over the years and the 2023/24 campaign was no different.

Which is perhaps why Neville was left so surprised when Trippier provided an insight on the South Korean captain after he just signed for Spurs back in 2015.

Kieran Trippier reveals surprising insight about Heung-min Son

Having signed for Spurs back in 2015 from Bayer Leverkusen, Son has turned out to be one of the club’s greatest ever signings.

Spurs have been able to get nine successful years out of the South Korean and Tottenham are looking to extend Son’s stay with a new contract.

Despite turning 32-years-old this summer, Son continues to impress in the Premier League with the 2023/24 campaign marking his second-best return in a Spurs shirt.

However, it seems his time in north London has not been complete smooth sailing after what Trippier has revealed.

Speaking to Neville on The Overlap, Trippier has admitted Son was one of the players who had to undergo Mauricio Pochettino’s brutal fitness training to boost his levels.

“I was in the [altitude] chamber for about good five, six months. Jesus Perez put us in there after training. The training was relentless,” Trippier said.

“After every session for a good 35/40 minutes fat burning. So we were on the treadmill, then we’d go on the rower.I might as well throw them under the bus… there was me, Toby [Alderweireld], Sonny was in there a couple of times.”

To which Neville replied: “What Son who plays football for Tottenham now? There’s nothing on him!”

“Yeah, Sonny was in there. We all signed in the same window, you see,” Trippier responded.

Spurs must rotate Heung-min Son this season

Considering the responsibility that was on his shoulders following Kane’s exit, Son put in a stunning 2023/24 campaign.

However, there were spells in the second half of the season where he looked to be struggling through fatigue having also represented South Korea in the Asian Cup.

With Europa League football and – hopefully – longer runs in the two domestic cups, Spurs are going to be playing considerably more football than they did last season.

To get the best out of Son, Postecoglou is going to have to rotate the South Korean to make sure his fitness levels are where they need to be to keep him at his best.
