Report: Tottenham are looking at signing a ‘superb’ player who can ‘run all day’

Tottenham Hotspur have done plenty of shopping in the EFL in recent years.

Indeed, Spurs haven’t been afraid of dipping into the Championship to make signings.

These signings haven’t always worked out as planned, with the likes of Djed Spence, Joe Rodon and Ryan Sessegnon not turning out to be stars for Spurs.

However, there are gems to pluck from the lower leagues. Dele Alli was incredible for Tottenham for quite some time after arriving from MK Dons, while James Maddison will be a key player for Spurs for years to come.

Jack Clarke is another former EFL star Spurs signed, landing the winger from Leeds United back in 2019 after Leeds failed to win the playoffs, and now, five years later, Tottenham are looking at signing another Leeds youngster in similar circumstances.

Tottenham looking at signing Archie Gray

According to The Athletic, Tottenham are looking at Leeds’ Archie Gray as the Whites contemplate selling their star youngster this summer.

Gray has been one of Leeds’ best players this season, and at the age of just 18, he’s attracting interest from many top clubs.

Described as a ‘superb’ midfielder who can ‘run all day’ Gray is a highly-coveted young player.

Gray is said to be a player of interest to both Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund, and with Leeds under a bit of financial pressure after losing the playoff final, they may have to sell the teenager.

Archie Gray may be best off joining Dortmund

Tottenham may be interested in signing Gray, but his best bet may be to join Borussia Dortmund.

Indeed, to say that Dortmund have a better track record when it comes to developing young players than Spurs would be an understatement.

As the likes of Spence, Sessegnon, Clarke and Rodon have shown, Tottenham don’t do the best of jobs when developing these young stars, while Dortmund have done brilliant work with the likes of Jude Bellingham and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens in recent years.

If Gray is to leave Leeds this summer, perhaps his best bet would be to join Borussia Dortmund.
