'Different level': Ally McCoist blown away by £96m star Liverpool reportedly want to sign

Liverpool are likely to be busy in the summer transfer window as the club’s hierarchy looks to bolster the squad’s ranks.

The Reds are at the dawn of a new era, with Arne Slot replacing Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield dugout.

Liverpool and FSG will no doubt do all they can in the market to ensure the new manager can get off to the best possible start.

This summer will see some of the world’s best talents in the shop window at Euro 2024 and the Copa America.

One player Liverpool are reportedly monitoring is competing at Euro 2024, and he quickly staked an early claim as a star of the tournament.

The player in question is Jamal Musiala, who was instrumental as Germany ran out 5-1 winners over Scotland in their Group A opener.

The Independent reported in April that Liverpool are among a number of top European clubs looking to sign the Bayern Munich star this summer.

Musiala lit up the tournament’s opening game, tormenting the opposition with his great footwork and movement, and also bagging a goal.

Ally McCoist was among the pundits who eagerly sung the 21-year-old’s praises during and after the match.

He told ITV – via BBC Sport – mid-game: “He’s got to keep it down, Wirtz. He’s got to get his knee over it.

“Thankfully he didn’t. But Musiala, on the left-hand side, has been a different level.”

Liverpool target Jamal Musiala a superstar in the making

Fellow pundit Ian Wright also sung Musiala’s praises on ITV, describing him as “brilliant” and “top-quality”.

Musiala really looks like he could go on to become one of the best players in the world if he continues on the same trajectory.

The £96million-rated ace would be an amazing signing for Liverpool, and if they get a chance to move for him, they should take it.

That said, with so much competition – not to mention Bayern not wanting to lose him and trying to renew his contract – it remains to be seen what happens this summer.
