Scotland media deliver verdict on Nottingham Forest-linked Che Adams after just 13 touches vs Germany

The transfer window hasn’t been open long but Nottingham Forest have already been linked with a host of players including Che Adams.

The Southampton player is out of contract this summer and it’s likely that he will be leaving St Mary’s.

A 27-year-old, he isn’t short of offers. Wolves are interested and last week it was claimed that Adams is being courted by Al-Shabab in Saudi Arabia.

Before Adams can plot his next career move, he’s in Germany with the Scotland squad as they face Euro 2024 head-on.

On Friday night, the man linked with aCity Ground switch was tasked with leading the line as Steve Clarke’s men faced the host nation in the curtain-raiser.

National media reacts to performance of Che Adams on Friday night

This wasn’t the fairytale start that thousands of Scotland fans had hoped for when travelling to Germany.

The hosts rolled over the Tartan Army and laid down a marker ahead of the rest of the tournament.

Germany ran out 5-1 winners and Forest-linked Adams endured a largely frustrating night leading the attack.

The national media went to town on Adams in pretty harsh fashion, with The Scottish Sun scoring him just 2/10.

They wrote on his performance: “Won the battle with Lawrence Shankland to start up front but was always going to be a tough shift.

“Isolated for all of the first half and then hooked at half-time after Porteous was sent off.”

Forest fans fail to catch glimpse of Adams during Scotland battering

Who Scored showcase that Adams touched the ball just 13 times on Friday night.

It was always going to be a backs-against-the-wall job for Scotland against a nation fancied for the title but few anticipated such a mauling.

Adams won’t be signed by Forest based on his performances at Euro 2024 alone.

However, it would be nice to think that he will keep his place for later games against Hungary and Switzerland in Group A.

Forest fans will be watching Euro 2024 intently and given that he’s one of the linked players, hopefully Adams can come good.

The Leicester-born performer caught the eye of potential suitors last season playing in the Championship.

He scored 17 goals and claimed six assists as the Saints secured an instant return to the Premier League.

Scotland now face an uphill battle to reach the knockout stages of Euro 2024.

Forest-linked Adams will be hoping that he can receive more service in the next games and show supporters exactly what he’s capable of on the international stage.
