'The other name...': Liverpool really like 'powerful' £43m defender as Goncalo Inacio alternative - journalist

Liverpool’s transfer window is going to be an interesting one and they have a new centre-back firmly on the radar.

The Reds are all set for the new era under Arne Slot and the new boss is likely to want some new signings to be made over the summer.

Key positions are being looked ay by FSG and Michael Edwards and a consistent theme coming out in reports is the idea of a new central defender coming in.

The likes of Goncalo Inacio and Leny Yoro are being linked with a move to Anfield.

But according to journalist Ben Jacobs, another name is high on Liverpool’s agenda as well when it comes to central defenders.

Liverpool really keen on Willian Pacho as Goncalo Inacio alternative

Speaking for GiveMeSport, Jacobs has said that the Reds would love it if they could sign Ecuadorian star, Willian Pacho.

“At the moment, they’ve scouted Goncalo Inacio. We wait and see whether they move as it’s a big outlay,” Jacobs writes.

“Willian Pacho is the other name that Liverpool really like and he fits that young profile that could be a player for the now and for the future.”

Pacho making an impression in Germany

Described as a ‘quick and powerful‘ defender, Willian Pacho is one of a number of players in the Bundesliga making a big impression this past year.

As exclusively revealed on TBR Football last month, Pacho is a player Liverpool have watched in person as well, such is their interest.

Eintracht Frankfurt are thought to want around £43m for the defender and in reality, that sort of money is not out of Liverpool’s range.

With the likes of Joel Matip moving on and Joe Gomez now considered more of a full-back, there is a real chance for Pacho to come in and be an immediate starter.

The 22-year-old, then, is certainly one for Liverpool fans to watch over the summer.
