Report: Manchester United will offer Crystal Palace £50m player & cash to sign Guehi after EURO 2024 heroics

Manchester United are set to make an interesting proposal for Crystal Palace No.6 Marc Guehi after his impressive start to UEFA EURO 2024.

The £18m defender has received widespread praise for his performance on Sunday as England recorded a 1-0 win over Serbia in Group C, with Jude Bellingham also hailing the 23-year-old.

Now, as Everton stand firm over Jarrad Branthwaite, Manchester United are ready to make Crystal Palace an intriguing offer to sign Marc Guehi

A story from TEAMtalk now states that Manchester United are willing to offer Aaron Wan-Bissaka back to Crystal Palace as well as cash in a bid to sign the man from Abidjan.

The Red Devils are believed to be working on a restricted budget due to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) – so those at Old Trafford are exploring ways to secure targets without overspending.

One avenue is through offering players as part of any bid, and Manchester United, who paid £50m to sign Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace back in July 2019, are now ready to offer the Croydon-born defender back to the Eagles along with an undisclosed amount of money.

Everton are demanding £70m to sell the aforementioned Branthwaite, so Manchester United view a player-plus-cash deal for Guehi as an easier route, especially as TEAMtalk add that the Crystal Palace No.6 is open to joining Erik ten Hag’s side.

Crucially, Wan-Bissaka only has 12 months remaining on his contract at Old Trafford, and talks are yet to take place over a renewal, so an exit seems highly likely for the 26-year-old this summer.

This outcome wouldn’t be a nightmare for Crystal Palace

Of course, it would be great to keep Guehi at Selhurst Park, but if the England international is to leave SE25 this summer, receiving Wan-Bissaka and cash would not be the worst outcome for Oliver Glasner.

If this deal were to materialise, it would see us receive a substantial amount of cash, while we would also secure a replacement without needing to spend a penny – which is crucial in terms of PSR and how much Crystal Palace could then spend on other targets.

Of course, you may be arguing that Wan-Bissaka is a right-back, but as Nathaniel Clyne showed towards the end of last season, the right-sided centre-back role under Glasner is basically the best of both worlds.

Daniel Munoz is able to offer the attacking threat from his right wing-back role, while Wan-Bissaka’s supreme tackling ability would be put to good use in this hybrid central role.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Manchester United could submit the offer when Guehi returns from UEFA EURO 2024.
