Report: ‘Special’ player has just told Arsenal he wants to explore move away from the club this summer

It’s expected to be yet another busy summer at Arsenal as Mikel Arteta bids to fine-tune his squad.

The Gunners are targeting reinforcements at left-back, in midfield and upfront, which will undoubtedly lead to departures.

Mohamed Elneny and Cedric Soares have already headed out the door on free transfers upon their contracts expiring. But Arsenal will be looking to pick up significant fees for several players who struggled for minutes last season.

The likes of Aaron Ramsdale and Emile Smith Rowe look set to depart as they search for regular game time.

Another player who could head out the door for similar reasons is Reiss Nelson, who started just one game in the Premier League last term.

West Ham have reportedly expressed an interest in signing the Arsenal forward and now, The Athletic has shared the latest in his future at the Emirates Stadium.

Reiss Nelson to explore Arsenal exit this summer

The outlet claims that Nelson has told Arsenal he wants to explore a potential exit this summer.

It’s claimed that the Gunners are looking for a fee worth around £20 million for the Hale End Academy product.

Nelson racked up 24 appearances under Arteta last season but was limited to starts in cup competitions.

The forward has struggled for regular game time after returning from a promising loan spell with Feyenoord two years ago.

Nelson exit would boost Arsenal’s summer spending

With Arsenal bidding to go one better in the Premier League next season, offloading the likes of Nelson will be necessary to boost their funds this summer.

The Gunners have several players who could pick up decent fees, particularly homegrown talents like Ramsdale, Nelson and Smith Rowe.

Nelson has been lauded as a ‘special’ talent and signed a new long-term deal with Arsenal just last year.

But it’s probably for the best if he seeks a move this summer as his development has been somewhat halted by a lack of opportunities at Arsenal.
