Important dates for Man City fans as 2024/25 Premier League fixtures released

All 380 fixtures for the new Premier League season have been released and these are the most important dates for Manchester City supporters.

Manchester City are the reigning Premier League champions and will be aiming to extend their unprecedented stretch of dominance by becoming the first team to win five consecutive titles in England.

The campaign could well be Pep Guardiola’s final one in charge of City and, if it is, everyone at the club will be desperate that he ends his glittering tenure on a high.

They now know the path they will have to take to do so after the Premier League dropped its full fixture list for the 2024/25 season at 9 am on Tuesday.

Though all the games remain subject to change, here are the most important dates City fans need to be aware of.

Opening day

City fans now know their side will actually be in action for the first time in the upcoming season on Sunday, August 18.

The Blues have been handed an extremely tough opening game as they will travel away to Chelsea, a team who they didn’t beat in the league last season.

Manchester derbies

The Manchester derby is always the biggest game of the year for City fans. The first that’s looked for when the fixture list drops.

The neighbours will face off at Wembley once again in August as they compete in the Community Shield but will have to wait until the weekend of December 14 to look horns in the Premier League.

City have home advantage first with the reverse fixture at Old Trafford coming on the weekend of April 5.

Big clashes with Arsenal

Arsenal have been City’s biggest title rivals for the last two seasons and the two clubs will face off against one another early on in the campaign.

Just five games in, on the weekend ofSeptember 21, the Gunners will travel to the Etihad Stadium.

City will make the trip to London on February 1 amid a horror run of fixtures at the start of 2025.

A dreadful run of games

Though City will have a fairly comfortable start to January, things turn sour at the end of the month.

The reverse fixture with Chelsea is set to take place on the weekend ofJanuary 25 which kicks off an extremely difficult period.

Guardiola’s side will face Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle, Liverpool and then Tottenham all in the space of a single month.

That’s not to mention the Champions League knock-out stages, which City will presumably qualify for, will also start in that period as well.

It’s going to be tough but getting so many big games out of the way early means City’s run-in looks relatively comfortable.

Festive fixtures

Thankfully, City’s festive fixture period isn’t quite as intense. The Blues are at home on Boxing Day against Everton, travel to Leicester City on December 29 and kick off the new year against West Ham on the weekend of January 4.

Meeting a new Liverpool

City’s rivalry with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool has defined the Premier League for the last five years but it will be a new Merseyside outfit this time around.

Arne Slot has taken charge from Klopp and City will meet his side for the first time on the weekend of November 30.

The return fixture at the Etihad will come amid the Blues’ scary run of games on the weekend of February 22.

The final day

City will be away on the final day of the season when they travel to Fulham’s Craven Cottage on August 25. Their last home game is the week prior against Bournemouth.
