'Lacks concentration': Lee Dixon blasts Leeds player The 49ers are trying to sell for £12.5m

Lee Dixon has taken aim at one Leeds United player this week amid reports The Whites are trying to sell him for a fee of £12.5m in the coming weeks and months.

With Euro 2024 now fully underway, Leeds only have a handful of players in Germany at the moment that remain on the books. Robin Koch remained an unused sub during Germany’s 5-1 drubbing of Scotland.

Despite Ryan Porteous’ red card, Liam Cooper also stayed on the bench during last Friday’s opener as Julian Nagelsmann’s men ran riot against Steve Clarke’s Scotland side at Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena.

Rasmus Kristensen also failed to get any minutes despite playing regularly in the warm-up matches and recent Denmark matches, as Kasper Hjulmand’s side failed to hold on to beat Slovenia, drawing 1-1.

The only other player still on the Leeds books is Max Wober, with Koch and Cooper possibly going to finish the competition not on the list of players still contracted to the Yorkshire club this summer.

Lee Dixon hammers Leeds United defender Max Wober last night

Wober started for Austria as they took on World Cup finalists France in their opening game last night, with Real Madrid’s David Alaba injured. But Wober endured a dismal night, lucky not to be sent off.

Early on, after a couple of misplaced passes, the Leeds man was shown a yellow card for a two-footed lunge on Ousmane Dembele. Wober remains on the books at Leeds after a loan with Gladbach last term.

Then, he scored an own goal and earned criticism from both Roy Keane and Ian Wright in their analysis. Somehow, the referee missed his shoulder barge on Antoine Griezmann, leaving the French ace bloodied.

Subbed on 60 minutes, former Arsenal man Dixon said during commentary on ITV Sport after Wober misplaced a pass out for a throw-in just after the start of the second half, that he lacks concentration.

“He’s got one of those in him, has Wober. I know he scored the own goal, but he lacks concentration. He’s kicked a couple out of play, miscontrolled a couple,” Dixon said as Wober struggled in Austria’s 1-0 loss.

Leeds are trying to sell defender Wober and last night won’t help

Leeds have reduced their initial asking price of £14.5m by £2m, taking it to £12.5m. Gladbach want to sign Wober permanently, but the chances of the German side paying that figure seem incredibly unlikely.

Especially, after last night’s showing. Indeed, his dismal effort in the defeat to France might mean Leeds have to consider reducing that price tag even further as they look to offload the left-footed defender.

The chances of Wober following in Brenden Aaronson’s lead and returning to Elland Road next season seem as though they are next to zero, and it might be Leeds are better off without him anyway.
