International boss now admits he wishes he could call up "exceptional" £100,000-a-week Crystal Palace player

Crystal Palace have several players right now who’re at the very top of their game and now one Euros manager has expressed his desire to have one Eagles player.

The arrival of Oliver Glasner at Selhurst Park could go down as one of the best managerial appointments in recent memory, thanks to be immediate changes he’s made to the club.

In just a short few months, the Austrian coach has turned Crystal Palace from potential relegation candidates, to now possibly the most exciting and talked about clubs in the Premier League.

He hasn’t done it on his own either, with several of his players now viewed as world-class talents, and five are currently at the 2024 European Championships.

Now, the Austrian manager has admitted he’d love to have been able to call one Palace player up if only he had Austrian heritage.

Ralf Rangnick admits he’d love to call Michael Olise up for Austria

The Eagles are stacked with quality right now and Austrian boss Ralf Rangnick has admitted there’s one player from Glasner’s squad he would’ve loved to call up.

Speaking to L’Equipe, Rangnick answered the question: “He has never been called up by France but I love Michael Olise. If only he had Austrian origins! He is an exceptional player.

“He is an exceptional player. He is quick, a strong dribbler, technically gifted and he works when he loses the ball. Whenever I saw him play, he had a smile on his face.

“I am not unhappy that Deschamps didn’t call him up!”

Ultimately Rangnick’s comments on Palace’s £100k-a-week man, looking even better served as Didier Deschamps will surely be wishing he had Olise too. This after having to watch his France side beat Austria through an own goal, 1-0 win.

Olise not being at the Euros is a ridiculous decision

Olise had a terrific season, and few players in Europe could’ve possibly held a torch to him after the performances he put in.

However despite being probably the best French player on the planet last season, aside from Kylian Mbappe, Deschamps opted for Ousmane Dembele and Bradley Barcola instead and now that looks like a mistake.

France had just one clear chance against Austria and ultimately were lucky to walk away with the win as the attack faltered, something Olise might’ve changed.

So while Rangnick wanted Olise to be Austrian, we imagine he isn’t the only coach who’d like to have him there, with Gareth Southgate also keen but didn’t manage to issue a call-up.
