Report: 'World class' £100m player wants to leave current club after being linked to Arsenal

A ‘world class’ £100m player wants to leave his current club after being linked to Arsenal, according to a recent report.

The Gunners will be eager to bolster their ranks this summer transfer window as they look to assemble a squad capable of pipping the reigning champions Manchester City to the Premier League title.

They came up just two points short last term and perhaps need two or three quality additions to bridge the gap.

With that said, a ‘world class’ target reportedly wants to leave his current club.

Arsenal target Bruno Guimaraes want to leave Newcastle United

Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has been heavily linked with a departure from Tyneside in recent weeks.

He currently has an active £100m release clause, and Arsenal have been one of the clubs taking an interest.

Now, it has just come to light, that Guimaraes is ‘crazy about leaving Newcastle’, according to Spanish outlet Sport.

The Magpies midfielder is at the top of Barcelona’s transfer list, though, it would appear the Catalan club can’t afford his release clause, putting Arsenal in pole position to sign him.

Arsenal should focus on other targets

It’s unlikely that Newcastle would be willing to sanction Guimaraes’ sale for anything less than his £100m release clause, so Arsenal should move on to other targets.

A deal for Eberechi Eze would cost just over half the price, allowing funds to be spent on other priority positions too, like upfront.

The Palace man has a £60m price tag and whilst he is of a slightly different profile to Guimaraes, it’d still add depth to Arteta’s midfield and out wide.
