Report: Aston Villa now in advanced talks to sell player Boubacar Kamara once called a 'golden boy'

Aston Villa are set for a busy summer on the transfer front ahead of a big 2024/25 campaign.

The Villans finished fourth in the Premier League to secure a Champions League spot, and they’ll need to strengthen to ensure they can handle the extra workload.

At the same time, Villa need to stay on the right side of profit and sustainability rules this summer, as well as offloading any players surplus to requirements.

Now, a report in the Birmingham Mail has claimed that the Villans are in discussions to sell a player once deemed a “golden boy” to a Premier League rival.

Aston Villa in talks to sell Tim Iroegbunam to Everton

The player in question is Tim Iroegbunam and, according to the Birmingham Mail, the Villans are in advanced talks to sell him to Everton.

Iroegbunam is reportedly free to leave Villa Park this summer, three years after joining from West Midlands rivals West Bromwich Albion.

The 20-year-old struggled for game time under Unai Emery last term, registering just nine Premier League appearances and one start.

Villa would earn ‘pure profit’ by selling Iroegbunam, which would contribute positively to their financial position ahead of their account filing deadline on 30 June.

The report also claims that the Villans need to sell to buy this summer and want to raise money before the end of the month due profit and sustainability rules.

Who is Aston Villa talent Tim Iroegbunam?

Tim Iroegbunam is a 20-year-old midfielder who has been with Villa since 2021, when he joined their academy setup from West Brom.

He has made 19 competitive appearances for the Villans, as well as 32 for QPR during his loan stint in west London.

Iroegbunam has been tipped for a bright future in the game, with Villa ace Boubacar Kamara calling him a “golden boy” on Instagram in April 2023.

However, it looks as though his time at Villa may be coming to an end, with Everton potentially set to be the beneficiaries.

The Villans have a big season ahead of them, with Champions League football on the horizon.

However, they – like many other Premier League teams – are having to make some tough decisions in the market due to profit and sustainability rules.
