Report: Arsenal retain long-term interest in ‘incredible’ striker, they’re considering another move

Both Mikel Arteta and Arsenal are said to retain long-term interest in one striker target who they could move for again in the future.

Right now, sources are divided on whether Edu will be tasked to deliver a goal-scoring number nine at the Emirates this summer.

Arsenal would reportedly sell Gabriel Jesus for the right price, and the same can be said for Eddie Nketiah.

Kai Havertz is the club’s starting striker moving forwards, strengthened by his position as Germany’s false nine at Euro 2024 as well.

Havertz enjoyed an excellent start against Scotland, displaying all of the ability he has consistently delivered in north London.

But if Jesus and Nketiah do find suitable moves, Arsenal will definitely need a new striker to make up numbers and provide competition.

For a long while it looked as if RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko was that man, but he will now be staying in the Bundesliga this summer.

Arsenal will continue to follow Benjamin Sesko and ‘maintain their relationship’

Sesko’s decision to sign a new contract Leipzig will have been a blow for Arsenal – who had worked hard to make themselves the most appealing destination for the Slovenian should he leave.

However, The Athletic have now shared some further insight into how Arsenal reacted to the news and their plans moving forward.

The report detailed that Arsenal weren’t too disheartened by the decision, given they knew the striker could choose to stay with Leipzig.

But interestingly, Arsenal will continue to follow ‘incredible’ Sesko and maintain the healthy relationship they’ve built, given the striker remains a long-term target.

Of course, this could be significant if Arsenal don’t decide to sign a striker this summer.

Arsenal could sign Martin Zubimendi this summer and Benjamin Sesko next

Right now it seems as if Arsenal are most-focused on signing a new central midfielder, someone who can start alongside Declan Rice as a number six.

And should that be the case, with players like Benfica’s Joao Neves and Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi of interest, the club could well return for Sesko next summer.

Arsenal fans will surely have no issue with Jesus staying at the club, especially if he can improve his injury record.

And although it’s a long way to look ahead, the club could be incredibly well-positioned to sign Sesko in the summer of 2025, when he’s made even more progress in Germany.

That being said, Arsenal are now preparing a bid for a £50m defender who has already starred at Euro 2024.
