Tottenham preparing move for ‘special’ forward after Ange Postecoglou gives his approval

Tottenham Hotspur are now preparing their opening move for one of their top targets this summer after being given Ange Postecoglou’s approval.

The summer window has not even been open a week yet but Tottenham are yet to make any major movement when it comes to bringing in players.

Any hope of securing some early business may well have been scuppered by this summer European Championship.

Spurs sealed the early signing of Timo Werner on another loan for the 2024/25 campaign before the window had even opened but it has just been outgoings since.

However, Ange Postecoglou has now seemingly given the greenlight for Daniel Levy to open up a move for one of the club’s top targets this summer.

Ange Postecoglou ready for Tottenham to move for summer target

Spurs have a number of areas which they will be looking to address over the coming months having made a positive start to life under the Australian.

One player who Tottenham have been linked with a potential move for this summer is the 25-year-old Eberechi Eze.

Tottenham have already been informed of Crystal Palace’s demands if they are going to prise the exciting talent away from Selhurst Park this summer.

The forward has received high praise from those within his current club with defender Marc Guehi singing his praises last year.

“He’s a special human being [and I] can’t really say anything bad about him as a person first; he’s an amazing person and an amazing person to have around the training ground,” Guehi told the South London Press.

“If you haven’t seen him, then I don’t know where you’ve been, he’s a top player.”

According to Team Talk, there is now set to be a meeting held over the potential signing of Crystal Palace’s Eze.

This comes after Postecoglou has given Levy the greenlight to go ahead with triggering the release clause for the England international.

A move for the 25-year-old would cost £60m to activate his release clause with a further £8m in potential add-ons if certain targets are to be met.

Would Eberechi Eze start for Tottenham?

The 2024/25 campaign is going to be about rotation for Tottenham if they are going to be successful under Postecoglou.

During his first campaign at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Postecoglou could potentially be criticised for his lack of rotation from game-to-game.

Some may argue that the Australian simply did not have the quality to do so but adding a player like Eze to the squad would give him no excuses.

James Maddison failed to show over the second half of the season the form which he began the campaign with and could really have found himself out of the side.

Along with Heung-min Son, Postecoglou could soon have himself a versatile forward in Eze who could replace either the South Korean or Maddison in the starting XI in what is going to be a busy campaign with Europa League football.
