How Premier League rivals ‘could’ now disrupt Aston Villa plans to alleviate PSR concerns

Aston Villa could face a stumbling block with PSR ahead of June 30th, as another hurdle has been presented in the Douglas Luiz transfer.

As June 30th fast approaches, Aston Villa will be eager to offload as much talent as possible to generate much-needed profit.

Douglas Luiz is in the process of securing a transfer to Juventus, with Jhon Duran and Philippe Coutinho’s futures also in doubt at Villa Park.

While the Brazilian midfielder currently looks the most likely to depart as part of a swap deal involving Weston McKennie and Samuel Iling-Junior, all is not closed in the transaction.

Premier League clubs could disrupt Aston Villa transfer of Douglas Luiz

The transfer between Luiz, Juventus and Villa gathered astounding pace last week although, things have since slowed.

This is believed to be due to the United States international, as Fabrizio Romano relayed that McKennie has financial requests to fulfil from his current club before exiting.

There is a lot of speculation circulating regarding the deal, all surrounding McKennie, with the Telegraph now sharing another stance that could threaten the transfer.

In a recent report, the Telegraph claimed that Villa’s talks ‘have stalled’ with McKennie, which ‘could open the door’ for Premier League clubs to explore his availability.

The Telegraph details that Arsenal and Tottenham are ‘long-term admirers’ of the 25-year-old, adding that ‘other clubs could come into the frame’ as a result of Villa’s talks stalling due to various financial requirements.

Now, the Villans face yet another possible hurdle to overcome to get the deal over the line, with the main objective being to aid their PSR situation.

Villa must get the transfer over the line to reduce PSR concerns

There is an emphasis on Villa to offload Luiz and others to make a profit and reduce the wage bill to adhere to PSR requirements.

Without such concerns, it’s unimaginable that the Midlands club would want to part ways with Luiz, adding to the need for the deal to be completed promptly.

Stalling over finances from one party is a frustrating situation for Villa, which could be made worse in the instance that another Premier League side were to enter McKennie’s frame.

The entirety of the deal comes as a result of PSR and Villa’s need to balance the books, with it now a race against time to June 30th, particularly if other clubs are to eye one crucial part of the transfer.
