Report: Enzo Maresca does not want to start new Chelsea season with £32m man as only option

Reports have claimed that new Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has decided he needs reinforcements in one area of the pitch.

Transfer news started early this summer as the Blues look to give possible backing to the new manager ahead of what is set to be his first campaign at the helm in the Premier League.

This was shown by the shroud business done to get the signing of Tosin Adarabioyo confirmed early on, with a number of top clubs interested in the free transfer.

Another position they are reportedly keen on strengthening is striker, with the likes of Jhon Duran frequently being mentioned as a top target.

Enzo Maresca wants more than Nicolas Jackson as striker options

Now, it has been claimed by The Guardian that Maresca is not keen on going into next season with just Nicolas Jackson as his only senior option in the position.

The Senegal international enjoyed a very strong overall first season in the Premier League, and became a crucial member of the side under Mauricio Pochettino last season.

Jackson unhappy with Mauricio Pochettino departure

It has been claimed since the Argentine’s departure that Jackson is one of the players who has reacted worst to him leaving, and he was even considering his options ahead of next season.

However, it is believed that he is not for sale at any price, and will remain at Stamford Bridge for now.

As far as players who could come in, Duran is reportedly high up the list and keen to make the move to West London.

It was even claimed that the youngster was keen on linking up with Jackson in the future, although it is likely that he would play more of a development role.

Supporters were no doubt keen to bring in a more established name at the top of the game, however they were dealt a blow in their quest to sign Benjamin Sesko when he signed a new contract with RB Leipzig.
