What could now stop Jhon Duran from leaving Aston Villa as Chelsea lay down key demand

Chelsea have made their demands to Jhon Duran clear as the Aston Villa striker looks set to leave this summer.

Aston Villa are working tirelessly to offload players this summer to aid their current concerns relating to PSR.

Unai Emery and Monchi are in the process of parting ways with Douglas Luiz, who looks set to join Juventus as part of a swap deal.

As well as the Brazilian, Jhon Duran is likely to depart however, the Colombian is now at risk of losing grip on his dream transfer to Chelsea.

Jhon Duran’s wage demands could stop him from signing for Chelsea

It is no secret that Chelsea are admirers of Duran, who was linked with a move to West London in the January transfer window.

The Blues are still keen to acquire the Villa striker, who has his heart set on the transfer, making it clear that he wishes to leave Villa Park.

While the move looked certain due to the Colombia international’s desire, there is a stumbling block that could prevent the transfer from happening.

This week, the Telegraph reported that Chelsea have interest in Atletico Madrid forward Samu Omorodion, which coincides with their admiration for Duran.

The report detailed that while the Blues’ likening to Omorodion has ‘not ended’ their pursuit of the Villa man, a change must be made to get the deal moving again.

It’s said that Chelsea require the 20-year-old to ‘drop his wage demands’ if he is to make Stamford Bridge his new home this summer.

Aston Villa will be eager to offload Duran to Chelsea

Given that Villa are hoping to part ways with Duran for a fee as high as £40m, the Midlands club will be eager for the deal to regather momentum ahead of the deadline to correct PSR concerns.

Even in the instance that a deal wasn’t able to be struck before June 30th, dealing with Chelsea could only lead to a positive outcome.

If the club’s £40m valuation isn’t met, the opportunity for a swap deal has also been speculated, with the likes of Ian Maatsen and Conor Gallagher linked to Villa Park.

Still, the most important thing is for the Villans to cut their ties with Duran, who is a player who does not want to be part of the exciting project that Emery is building at Villa.
