The ‘top-class’ Weston McKennie replacement who could instead be included in Aston Villa swap

Douglas Luiz’s exit from Aston Villa looks certain although, there is now uncertainty over who will be involved in the swap deal.

Aston Villa were always going to entertain a fast start to the summer transfer window as Monchi and Unai Emery bid to offload talent for profit.

Due to Villa’s PSR concerns, Douglas Luiz looks likely to leave the club, with Juventus the destination as the two clubs negotiate a swap deal.

While it looked set that Samuel Iling-Junior and Weston McKennie would arrive as part of the transaction, there is now another player speculated to be in the mix.

Aston Villa could sign Moise Kean instead of Weston McKennie as part of Douglas Luiz transfer

The McKennie element of the proposed swap deal has caused talks to stall, with a fresh report relayed by Sport Witness claiming that the American is asking too much of both Villa and Juventus.

It’s understood that the 25-year-old wants a considerable pay rise and is also requesting a severance package, demands that could now see him taken away from the swap deal.

Interestingly, the outlet claim that Juventus are keen to propose Moise Kean as part of the transfer with Iling-Junior however, Villa’s desire to sign him is described as ‘difficult’.

If Villa can’t strike a deal with McKennie and consider Kean an unworthy part of the transaction, the transfer could be off as all parties continue to struggle to find an agreement.

Villa must be firm with Juventus amid Moise Kean suggestion

Once lauded as having the potential to be ‘top-class’ by talent scout Jacek Kulig, Kean has already had a taste of Premier League football.

Unfortunately, like McKennie, the Italian failed to impress, spending an underwhelming time at Everton before returning to Italy.

While the 24-year-old is certainly mouldable into a strong talent, there must be boundaries for Villa when negotiating a deal for Luiz.

It must not be forgotten that the Brazilian is one of Villa’s best players, with the likes of Kean and McKennie far from the level required to replace the quality lost in selling Luiz.

Fabrizio Romano reported that if the deal is not technically and financially correct for Villa, then it simply will not develop, making Monchi’s stance firm in the negotiation.

There is a concern that Villa are running out of time to ease their PSR woes although, a deal that does not work for Emery’s side must not be rushed, as Juventus’ suggestions are far from adequate.
