Danny Rohl and Ian Wright joke about similarity between Sheffield Wednesday and Germany live on air

Danny Rohl has joked about one similarity between Sheffield Wednesday and Germany while live on air.

Rohl jetted off home to Germany this month, shortly after securing survival with Sheffield Wednesday.

The head coach was named as one of ITV’s pundits for the EURO 2024 tournament this summer, making his debut ahead of Belgium v Slovakia earlier this week.

Rohl was then present for Croatia v Albania today, working alongside Ian Wright and Karen Carney in Berlin for the Group B fixture.

The 35-year-old was clearly settling into his brief spell as a TV pundit, but it didn’t take him long to get a mention of life back in Sheffield in.

Danny Rohl makes Germany and Sheffield Wednesday comparison

When asked by presenter Mark Pougatch whether it always rains in Germany, Wright joked: “They should call it Ger-manchester, not Germany!”

As the team laughed, Rohl replied: “Yes I feel right at home, it’s the same as Sheffield!”

The weather in Germany has been the topic of conversation bar the on-field antics, with rain notably falling from the Signal Iduna Park roof like a waterfall ahead of Turkey v Georgia yesterday.

The Owls boss should be scouting out Euro stars

Rohl would actually be surprised to know the weather in England hasn’t been quite as bad as his home country this week, though that is likely to be far from his mind when considering his return to Yorkshire.

The coach is surely very busy behind the scenes when not in the ITV studio, with the club eager to ‘wrap up’ their third summer signing in Yan Valery later this week.

They have also been linked with a number of players elsewhere, and Rohl certainly won’t want his time at the Euros to impact their transfer business.

He is likely to keep his eye out for any potential signings while in Germany too, with many players potentially putting themselves in the shop window with their performances this summer.
