Fabrizio Romano claims Man United could make stunning move to sign 26-year-old West Ham star

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is said to be a really big fan of West Ham United midfielder Edson Alvarez.

West Ham star Edson Alvarez is said to be firmly on the radar of Manchester United, after a stellar debut season in the Premier League.

The only negative was the 26-year-old’s poor discipline. He picked up 11 yellow cards in just 31 Premier League games last season, but he did admit recently that he has learned from those mistakes.

The West Ham fans absolutely love Alvarez – he is one of the most committed and passionate players we’ve had at the London Stadium over the past decade.

Julen Lopetegui is set to build a new squad at West Ham, but Alvarez is someone who the new gaffer surely sees as vital to his plans.

That said, the Mexican has been linked with a move away from the Hammers already this summer (Caught Offside). However, he recently hinted that he’ll be staying with West Ham for at least one more season.

That was before Man United’s interest in signing him emerged, but what are the chances that he could swap the London Stadium for Old Trafford this summer?

Manchester United in for West Ham star Edson Alvarez

The hard as nails, tough-tackling central midfielder certainly impressed in the Premier League last season.

The way he instantly hit the ground running was mightily impressive, especially for someone who had just moved from the Eredivisie.

He’s under contract at the London Stadium until the summer of 2028, so we’re firmly in control of his future.

Will he still be with us next season though?

It’s now being claimed that the Mexico international is greatly admired by Man United boss Erik ten Hag.

Fabrizio Romano has shared the chances of Manchester United signing the West Ham star in the summer transfer window:

I just cannot see West Ham allowing Alvarez to leave this summer.

The 26-year-old is an absolutely integral part of our team, and Lopetegui will surely be planning on building his side around him.

Edson Alvarez took to the Premier League like a duck to water with West Ham last season, so it’s no surprise that Manchester United may want to sign him.

However, the new Man United owners will have to make a serious offer for the Mexican if they want to prise him away from the London Stadium.

I can’t see the Hammers selling him for anything less than £60 million.
