Crystal Palace offer £100,000-a-week star new contract with updated release clause amid interest - Fabrizio Romano

Crystal Palace have now made their play to retain one key player this summer with a new contract being offered.

This summer is already turning into a long one for Crystal Palace, with relentless links being made between the likes of Ebere Eze and Michael Olise and some of the richest clubs in England.

Both enjoyed starring roles in the Eagles’ 2023/24 season but ultimately injury woes scuppered both and prevented them from having potentially history-making seasons.

Because of how impressive they’ve both been, interest has been high. But now in an effort to prevent an exit, Palace have offered one of the duo a new contract to remain at Selhurst Park.

Crystal Palace offer Michael Olise a new contract

The departure of Michael Olise has been something which looks more and more likely by the day recently as Chelsea look hell-bent on signing him this summer.

But it’s always been reported that Olise wouldn’t force a move but rather would only move for the right opportunity. Now though, it’s been stated that Palace are fighting to keep him.

Fabrizio Romano has tweeted that in a bid to keep Olise beyond this summer, the Eagles have now offered a new contract to the £100k-a-week winger.

Olise has been offered a higher salary and also a new and improved release clause for summer 2025.

However, despite this offer, Chelsea remains confident and it is now effectively up to Olise himself what happens to him this summer as he could very well commit to Palace for a second straight summer.

Olise must repeat summer 2023 decision

With a new offer from Palace on the table, Olise will be effectively in the exact same position he was in last summer, with Chelsea once more the club trying to sign him.

Just like in the summer of 2023, Olise should reject a move to Stamford Bridge and commit to Palace due to the mess that Chelsea is in terms of recruitment.

Staying at Palace for one more season would see Olise finally have a season with a team which looks strong under Oliver Glasner and he could even secure European football for the Eagles.

Olise is far too good to settle for a move to Chelsea and a season with fewer injuries could see him get a move to Europe’s biggest next season instead.
