‘Of course’: £22m Tottenham player says joining Spurs was the best moment of his career so far

Ange Postecoglou has managed to bring excitement back to Tottenham Hotspur during the early stages of his tenure.

A big part of the Aussie’s early success last season was uniting the supporters behind the players once again after some testing years under his predecessors.

There’s a long way to go for Tottenham as they bid to improve on a fifth-place finish in the Premier League and challenge towards the top end of the table.

While there are some question marks over Postecoglou’s style moving forward, the former Celtic boss seems to have got a host of key decisions right.

He’s proven ruthless in shifting players that don’t suit his style so far while also naming a new leadership group at the club.

Following Harry Kane’s departure, Heung-min Son was chosen as the club’s new skipper, with James Maddison and Cristian Romero as vice-captains.

And it’s fair to say that Son’s latest comments on Tottenham sum up why he was the obvious choice to lead the team forward.

Heung-min Son on signing for Tottenham

Son was snapped up for just £22 million from Bayer Leverkusen back in 2015 and it’s turned out to be an inspired piece of business for Spurs.

The 31-year-old has gone on to rack up 408 appearances for the club, scoring 162 times and providing 82 assists in the process.

In a recent interview with Tatler Asia, Son was asked what has been the best moment of his career so far and his answer should please Tottenham fans.

“When I played for the [South Korean] national team and when I joined Hamburger SV for the first time. And, of course, when I joined Tottenham Hotspur,” Son said.

Son set for new Tottenham contract

There has been plenty of speculation regarding Son’s future in recent weeks as he enters the final year of his deal at Spurs.

The South Korean star is reportedly receiving admiring glances from the Saudi Pro League, as well as his former boss Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahce.

But TBR Football revealed in May that Son is keen to agree fresh terms with Tottenham, with the club also having the option to extend his contract by a further year.

The belief is that a new deal is in the works and it could be agreed over the summer, which will be a huge boost for Postecoglou.
