Report: How Chelsea are now feeling about Crystal Palace's rumoured contract offer to Michael Olise

Chelsea’s desire to sign Michael Olise this summer is persistent but the past 24 hours have seen a spanner thrown into the transfer race.

This summer Michael Olise was always likely to be a hot commodity and thus far, he’s not disappointed with Chelsea dedicating what seems like weeks now to securing his arrival.

After the impressive season, Olise had for Crystal Palace, it’s little surprise that a club like Chelsea are so keen to sign him and are even willing to offer players plus cash to make it happen.

However, there has been a bit of doubt cast onto any such deal with a rumoured new contract being submitted by the Eagles to keep the Frenchman at Selhurst Park.

But how has this left Chelsea feeling about the situation?

The latest on Michael Olise’s rumoured new contract offer at Crystal Palace

On Wednesday night the news broke from Fabrizio Romano that Palace were set to offer Olise a new contract.

However, Thursday morning saw this refuted by South London Press’ Edmund Brack who claimed no such contract was offered, only for Romano to double down on his previous claims.

Now, according to a report from TeamTalk, the impact of the rumoured new contract on Chelsea has been revealed.

It’s said that despite these rumours, Chelsea remain confident that they can finalise a deal to sign Olise this summer as they believe the Eagles’ attempts to complete a new deal for Olise will fall on deaf ears.

So it appears that regardless of whether the reports of the new contract offer are true or not, it’s unlikely he’d sign.

Should Olise make the move to Stamford Bridge?

Despite the interest from Chelsea, making a move to Stamford Bridge would not be the smartest from Olise considering he is capable of far more.

Chelsea are a mess, and Olise heading there wouldn’t be an exciting project or top European club like he’s previously been said to want in order to depart Selhurst Park.

A player of Olise’s ability should be attracting interest from PSG, Man City and Real Madrid. Not Chelsea where he could end up regretting a move as they have spent the past few seasons struggling.

If Olise is really keen on making the smart move, he’ll bide his time and wait for a top club to come in for him. If he continues to play like he has been, there is no doubt he’ll have better options this time next year or even later this summer.
