West Ham could be about to make their second signing of the summer in £17m 'rising star' - journalist

West Ham United have made contact to sign a ‘rising star’, according to a journalist.

Julen Lopetegui has quickly got to work at the London Stadium following David Moyes’ departure from the London Stadium.

Already, The Hammers have approached a number of players who fit the bill for a Lopetegui system, with Luis Guilherme the first man through the door.

Another could follow him in the next week.

West Ham make contact to sign Fenerbahce defender Jayden Oosterwolde

According to journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, West Ham United have made contact to sign Fenerbahce left-back Jayden Oosterwolde.

The Hammers have reached out to Oosterwolde’s representatives to request footage of their client as they carry out due diligence.

They’re specifically interested in analysing his displays against Galatasaray, who were crowned Super Lig champions on 102 points.

Oosterwolde, who can operate at left-back, left-midfield and even as a centre-back, is thought to have a £17m valuation.

The ‘rising star’ celebrated his 23rd birthday in April.

Jayden Oosterwolde statistics

Oosterwolde’s FBref statistics make for very impressive reading.

The defender ranks in the top nine per cent for pass completion per 90 compared to his positional peers across Europe, evincing how proficient he is on the ball.

Further, he sits in the top 17 per cent for aerial duels won, amplifying his physical attributes – standing at 6ft 2in tall.

Oosterwolde would be a shrewd addition for West Ham and one that would provide depth in a number of areas due to his versatility.
