Report: Leeds looking at signing giant 'wonderkid' who played in the Champions League last sesaon

Leeds United could make a 2003-born ‘wonderkid’ their first signing from the Red Bull model, according to a recent report.

The Whites are preparing for another year in the Championship and will have the sole aim of returning to the Premier League.

They’ll be desperate to avoid another playoff campaign, so the onus will be on Daniel Farke to secure a top-two finish.

With the investment of Red Bull, it seems they’ll have a decent wedge to spend in the summer transfer window.

That said, their first signing could be from the RB model.

Leeds United eyeing Petar Ratkov

According to GiveMeSport, Leeds United are tracking RB Salzburg striker Petar Ratkov this summer.

The towering frontman, who stands at 6ft 4, has been of interest to The Whites for some time, before the Red Bull investment.

Ratkov joined Salzburg last summer in a £4m deal and netted six times whilst laying on three assists in his debut campaign.

The 2003-born, who has been labelled a ‘wonderkid’, is currently away with Serbia at Euro 2024 and he could gather interest quickly if given the platform.

RB Leipzig are already keeping tabs on his development and Rangers, too, hold an interest.

Peter Ratkov could join on loan

Using the Red Bull connection, perhaps Leeds United could convince Salzburg to sanction a loan deal for a season.

He started just 12 league games last term, so a switch to Elland Road for a year could be better suited to his development.

Further, if Ratkov were to enjoy a productive season at Leeds, his price would skyrocket given the greater exposure.

It seems such deal would benefit all parties.
