Classic Car Show in Ridgewell, part of the Two Rivers Festival, saw enthusiasts come from near and far

The first ever Classic Car Show to be held in Ridgewell proved to be a big success, with one driver even making a near 300 mile round trip in a 50-year old car to attend.

Sunday’s show on the playing fields next to the village hall featured two motorbikes and 48 cars and trucks - the latter being Second World War vehicles.

The range of vehicle ages went from 1923 to a modern classic, a Honda EV Civic. and featured a Riley ‘Frog-eye’ Sprite and numerous Porsches and TR7s.

The show was held as part of the Two Rivers Festival, which saw events held by all the six villages in the Two Rivers Benefice near Haverhill, which includes Sturmer, Ridgewell, Steeple Bumpstead, Helions Bumpstead, Birdbrook and Ashen.

The show’s organiser, Chris Bailey said: “It was lovely. I think people really had a nice time.”

He added: “It was the first time Ridgewell had ever had anything like that so the turn out was great.”
