The Taste of East Anglia returned yesterday, following its success in its new home at Kentwell Hall in Long Melford, near Sudbury, last year.

The festival, formerly called Taste of Sudbury, featured more than 80 stalls selling regional, artisan food and drink products, as well as street food, local craft ales and lager and plenty of fizz.

Making his debut at the event was Freddie Fallon, the executive chef now leading the kitchen at The Bildeston Crown in Ipswich, was blending Asian influences into local produce from the Nedging Hall Estate.

James Carn, owner and chef of Lark restaurant, in Bury St Edmunds, made a return to the festival after being labelled by The Good Food Guide as the `chef to watch’.

There were also a number of local craft stalls with music from Bedford45, free activities for children and more.

A spokesperson for the festival on social media said: “What a day. The rain was biblical today but still people persevered.

“Crowds hung onto gazebos, huddled into the kitchen theatre and sat in cars and when the rain stopped and the sun shone, you all came back and carried on enjoying the Taste of East Anglia.”
