Deeply concerning West Ham star knee injury claim emerges from EURO 2024 camp

West Ham United have been dealt a concerning injury blow after news emerged from one EURO 2024 camp.

EURO 2024 has been an absolutely brilliant tournament to watch so far, England‘s woeful performances not withstanding!

The West Ham fans would have been keeping a close eye on Jarrod Bowen, who was included in Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions squad for the Euros after his fine campaign for us last season.

The 27-year-old has had to make do with two substitute appearances so far out in Germany, but considering the state of our last display against Denmark, he may well be handed a start for our final group game against Slovenia.

However, the latest injury scare coming out of Germany is concerning another player – Tomas Soucek.

The 29-year-old Hammers midfielder might not be the most aesthetically pleasing player we have at the London Stadium, but he always gives 100%.

And at the end of the day, that’s all we ask for as West Ham fans right? Now though, that attitude could come back to bite us…

Whilst the Hammers fans will be glued to their televisions enjoying the Euros this summer, they will all be watching the games involving our players with a slight level of trepidation.

That’s because none of us want to see any of our players suffer any kind of injuries…obviously.

Now though, a deeply concerning update has emerged regarding Soucek.

Czech Republic assistant coach Jaroslav Kostl opened up on the West Ham midfielder’s knee problem when speaking to Eurozpravy.cz.

Kostl said, “”Tomas has had some discomfort in his knee for a long time, yesterday it showed a bit during the match. However, we have a top medical team here, they take care of him. I’ve known Tomas from the cabin (from previous positions) for 10 years. So if it wasn’t 100 percent, he wouldn’t go to the match. On the other hand, if I had to bet on whether he would play, I think he will definitely play. He’s a fighter and he won’t want to let the team down.”

There’s a really fine line between not wanting to let the team down and just being plain foolish when it comes to your health and fitness.

What if Soucek plays for the Czechs in their second group game against Georgia tomorrow and suffers a serious knee injury?

The West Ham midfielder might simply make his current problem worse by playing, and then what happens if he’s ruled out for half the season?

I’m not saying that Tomas Soucek will be a regular starter under new West Ham manager Julen Lopeteui, far from it in fact.

However, he may well still have some kind of role to play for us, but if Lopetegui doesn’t fancy the 29-year-old, there will be plenty of takers for him in the summer transfer window.

Selling him, or using him as a squad player won’t be possible though, if he badly damages his already injured knee when playing for his country.

Jaroslav Kostl’s comments on Soucek are deeply concerning if you ask me.

The West Ham star’s knee injury news coming out of the Czech Republic’s EURO 2024 camp means that we should all be keeping a very close eye on how he fares tomorrow during their clash with Georgia.
