A long-vacant village takeaway could be brought back into use as an office.
Julian Stiff has submitted proposals to turn the former takeaway in 31 Egremont Street in Glemsford, near Sudbury, into an office.
A planning statement submitted alongside the proposals said an approval would mean the revitalisation of a building vacant for around 10 years.
If approved, not only would the ground floor be turned into office space, but the applicant would also perform some minor refurbishment to external features of the building, including repairing damaged brickwork and restoring original features.
The statement also said the change of use would bring economic benefits to the village.
It read: “By converting the space into an office, the proposal creates opportunities for local employment, potentially attracting small businesses or professionals who can operate in a village setting.
“This activity will lead to added footfall which will benefit nearby shops, cafes, and services by office employees, thereby stimulating the local economy.”
Babergh District Council has until August 14 to determine the application.
