US sanctions top executives of Russia's Kaspersky Lab

The list includes company CEO Andrei Tikhonov, Business Development Director Andrei Efremov, Legal Affairs Director Igor Chekunov, and HR Director Marina Alekseeva.

On June 20, the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) announced that Kaspersky Lab's U.S. subsidiary, Kaspersky Lab, Inc., would no longer be able to sell its software products in the United States.

BIS stated that the decision follows a lengthy investigation, which concluded that the company's continued operations in the United States pose a national security threat due to the Russian government’s cyber capabilities and influence over the company. BIS noted that these issues can only be addressed through a complete ban on the company's activities on U.S. soil.

The U.S. Department of Commerce has allowed Kaspersky to continue "certain operations" in the United States until September 29, 2024.

In 2022, Kaspersky Labs generated $752 million in revenue from over 220,000 corporate clients in approximately 200 countries.
