Report: West Ham have made contact to sign striker with 88 Premier League goals

West Ham are now in the market for a striker after making Luis Guilherme their first signing of the window, according to a recent report.

Julen Lopetegui and sporting director Tim Steidten have been hard at work this summer identifying a number of targets.

The former Wolves man is expected to implement a possesion-based style of play, so new profiles are needed.

That said, the club have now made contact to sign a prolific number nine from another Premier League club this summer transfer window.

West Ham make contact to sign Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson

According to Chronicle Live, West Ham United have made contact with Newcastle United to sign Callum Wilson.

The Hammers are eager to do a cash deal for the 32-year-old, who is out of contract next June.

It’s thought that Wilson is keen to stay at St James’ Park but with the club under pressure to raise funds before the end of the month to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations, so he may be forced to depart.

Pair that with the fact he can walk on a free next summer and it seems likely he’ll be on his way out this summer.

Despite an injury-hit season last term, the nine-cap England international still managed a double-figure goal return across all competitions.

Wilson has netted an impressive 88 times in the Premier League.

The cost of Callum Wilson

Despite his contract situation, Newcastle are still demanding a pretty hefty fee, with an £18m valuation mooted.

The forward has interest from the Saudi Pro League, so that could drive his price tag through the roof if a club is to launch a proposal.

LaLiga giants Atletico Madrid could also reignite their interest in Wilson having made approaches during the January transfer window.

A telling few weeks await.
